With a little help from his friends, Kurt cracks the password to Cyrus Quinton's files. He's shocked by what he finds - an audio recording of Monica Grand's murder. It's brutal stuff. (Check out Episode 4 for a reminder.)

This pretty much confirms that Cyrus Quinton is 'V'. What's more, it seems that V left this recording as a sick taunt, knowing it would be found. And the message on the Viard CD was a set-up, getting the Cube Hunters to disrupt Helena Frye's raid at Gillit Road.

Sylvia sends an email to say thank you to the Cube Hunters - in particular 'Cassandra', who was the first to email Violet asking her to visit Sylvia after she posted her intention to take an overdose. That message saved Sylvia's life.

She also remembers Monica Grand's final words. And what words they are: 'We never held it, it was already gone.'

A couple of weeks after her previous post, Violet does a lot of catching up.

She recalls how she was contacted by a Cube Hunter from Earth, telling her to visit Sylvia Salk and save her, because it was suspected she may have committed suicide. Violet, of course, has never heard of Sylvia Salk - but she went along, just in case, and arrived in time to save Sylvia's life.

(Sylvia is Pietro Salk's grieving widow. She posted what sounded like a suicide note on her family blog, prompting the Cube Hunters to call Violet for rapid help. The sight of Monica Grand's bloody corpse had apparently pushed Sylvia over the edge.)

During all this, Violet had a birthday, turning 26. No time for celebration, though.

Sylvia Salk agrees to visit Monica Grand on behalf of the Cube Hunters. She realises that Monica was somehow involved in her husband's death, and wants to know what happened.

But Sylvia finds Monica in a pool of blood. She hears a few last words: Monica says the murderer was V; and she hands over an image file, which contains hidden text and the start of the long, misleadingReceda Trail.

Sylvia posts the file and this farewell message before taking an overdose of sleeping pills.

Kurt, still suffering with the military trace on his key, goes to visit his old pal Leo in the Academy Security Centre. While Leo can't do much about the key, he does reveal some very interesting details about the night of the theft. He suggests it must have been an inside job - and there was more than one genius involved.

Ascendancy Point has been having some widely publicised technical difficulties, which the Cube Hunters exploit to their advantage. They gain access to the building's air conditioning simulator online, and learn that they can crash it. If they crash it at the right time of day (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, 9.30pm-10pm GMT), the system crashes in a particularly spectacular fashion, spewing out the name and room number of a Point resident.

Their collective efforts result in a long list of possible identities for The Advisor, who they know lives in the building. ('Read more' for the full list.)

Combined with their knoweldge of The Advisor's movements (derived from her messages to Pietro Salk), and looking at the heat sensor data, the Cube Hunters are able to narrow the suspects down to just one: Monica Grand.

Sentinel reporter Pietro Salk revives briefly from his coma to work furiously on his key, before collapsing again. The fruits of his labour are posted by his wife on their family website.

(The doctors aren't saying what caused the coma in the first place, but it looks very like a malicious attack using some kind of neural disruptor - the same kind of weapon used in the Cube theft. Has Pietro become another victim of V?)
