The largest Perplex City event on Earth... and perhaps the most nerve-wracking. What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a matter of extreme urgency, when the data link to Perplex City was lost. It was sabotage, apparently carried out by the Third Power. An emergency site was erected by Mind Candy, explaining the situation.
Connecting the new link in San Francisco became a much more important (and much tougher) proposition. Without the Academy on hand to help, the Cube Hunters were left to solve hundreds of online and offline clues to re-establish communications.
With minutes to spare, the final puzzles were solved. The first message through came from Sente, explaining that the Third Power had not only disrupted the link, but had also sent a small group of agents through a wormhole to Earth.
The point was forcefully made when the Cube Hunters' phones all rang simultaneously. It was a message from one of the Third Power agents, telling the Cube Hunters to go outside.
There, they were swooped upon by two low-flying helicopters. As they passed overhead, a second message came through - this time, warning the Cube Hunters to stay out of the Third Power's way.
As the Emergency site puts it: "The game has changed. The hunt for the Cube is now a race. Be vigilant, and be quick."
