Our conclave of detectives - together with Crypto insider Karen Moro - devise a plan to track any parts that might be stolen from the Crypto department. They hack into a network of air quality sensors across the city, enabling them to trace the radiation from isotope tags they've placed on suspect items. All goes to plan, until one of the items disappears off the screen - and when Anna goes to investigate, she disappears too.

Kurt switches on the AQSYS hack, giving the Cube Hunters control of hundreds of tiny aerial sensors above the city. As they track the four pieces of tagged equipment around town, he updates his blog to give everyone an idea of the bigger picture.

He, Violet, Caine and Karen are each trying to follow one part by car. Three parts end up at Grand Frederik's station, but the fourth (followed by Caine) suddenly heads south. Caine crashes his car - he's fine - but loses track of the delivery, which vanishes off the radar.

Kurt recaps the whole plan: he, Caine, Violet, Anna and a Crypto researcher called Karen Moro are going to tag a series of high-tech parts, on suspicion that one or more of them may be stolen. They'll be able to track the movement of these parts by hacking into the city-wide AQSYS network of environmental sensors - with the help of Earth's Cube Hunters.

Of course, nobody knows when the potential theft might occur, so everybody is now just sitting and waiting. Karen thinks there will be a pick-up sometime this week. Fingers crossed.

Caine continues his investigations into the Crypto department, stumbling upon a series of audio recordings made by Karen Moro, a junior member of the faculty. She was being blackmailed into spying on her colleagues and reporting any suspicious activity.

Kurt reveals that he and Karen dated briefly during the period of these recordings (though she didn't seem too impressed with him at the time). Now, a year later, he must ask for her help in tracking down the stolen equipment.
