An Academy ethics board has rejected a huge legacy left by the late Ruth Coralhouse because the conditions attached were considered inappropriate. She wanted the money to go towards research into producing a device to transport physical objects between Perplex City and Earth, so that her ashes could be scattered here. Academy rep Valerian Reynolds said that accepting the gift might unduly influence the direction of their research.

(The doctors aren't saying what caused the coma in the first place, but it looks very like a malicious attack using some kind of neural disruptor - the same kind of weapon used in the Cube theft. Has Pietro become another victim of V?)

An interview with the Academy's Head of Security - the man responsible for protecting (and losing) the Cube. The chat reveals a few interesting details. For example, the Cube theft could have been executed by a team of four people, if two had specialised skills in hardware and software. The heat sensors and 'k-locks' used in the museum are also said to have been rather antiquated. But Tanner is sure Sente will get the Cube back.
